The Monthly Biblical Question!
What did God proclaim in Exodus 34?
Exodus 34:5-7
Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and fourth generation.”
Answer & Reflection
He proclaimed the name of the LORD, in other words, He proclaimed who He is–His character: Beginning with merciful and gracious; continuing with longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, and the last part speaks of His righteousness, justice and holiness.
Because of the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, we can proclaim His mercy and grace, longsuffering, goodness and truth, righteousness, justice and holiness in our lives!
